On June 4, 2025, GreenGold Global's co-founder Silvio Bonomelli will participate in the National Annual Assembly of Federcanapa, serving as a member of the Board of Directors during a critical period for the Italian and European hemp sector.

Held at the Sala dei Taurini of the National Research Council (CNR) in Rome, this year’s Assembly offers a key opportunity for reflection and realignment amid mounting regulatory pressures. Italy, once a European leader in industrial hemp and CBD production, now finds itself at a crossroads due to the recent “Security Decree” and related legal uncertainties that have cast doubt over the entire sector.

A Strategic Platform for Discussion

The open session, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM, will feature expert contributions, including:

  • A European regulatory overview by Lorenza Romanese, Director of the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA)

  • A legal briefing on the Security Decree and future legal strategies by Avv. Giacomo Bulleri

  • An analysis of post-decree market conditions by Mattia Cusani (Canapa Sativa Italia)

  • Updates on the evolution of Italy’s industrial supply chain

  • Presentation of a Franco-Italian hemp construction initiative

  • A new national campaign to promote hemp seed oil, led by Avv. Nicomede Di Michele and Prof. Severina Pacifico

In the members-only afternoon session, the agenda includes approval of the 2024 financial statement and budget projections, proposed statute amendments, and the election of a new Board of Directors.

A Global Mission for 2025–2026

In his proposal for the new term, Silvio Bonomelli sets forth a bold direction: to expand Federcanapa’s mission beyond Europe, establishing new partnerships in key emerging countries such as Thailand, Morocco, and Costa Rica. These countries are currently exploring industrial hemp as a strategic resource to integrate into their agricultural economies.

The goal is to:

  • Support sustainable agro-industrial development

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer through scientific research and best practices

  • Promote hemp’s role in green construction, nutraceuticals, and high-tech materials

For Bonomelli, this initiative is not just about cultivation — it is about enabling global communities to harness hemp as a pillar of sustainable economic transformation.

A Call to Action

At a time when global supply chains are being re-evaluated and environmental goals are becoming more urgent, hemp emerges as a resilient, low-impact crop with immense potential. From carbon-negative construction materials to functional foods and biodegradable plastics, the applications are many — but require coordinated policy, investment, and community engagement.

This Assembly marks not only a moment of strategic adjustment for Italy but an opportunity to lead the way in redefining what hemp can mean on a global scale.
